DISH PLAYS HARBALL ON TRIBUNE/CW AFFILATES ON ITS SYSTEM.

Dish Network for the 12th time (in three years,) has knocked out a huge station group-off its programming slate. Local CW station KTLA, started running (like the other 42 Tribune owned stations, hitting 50 million homes) toll free hotlines to focre Dish, back to the negotionag table to keep giving viewers what they need.

This deals a serous blow to WGN America, just as its establishing itself- as a major player of quality programing, with the accliamed Undeground and white trash soap, Outsiders.

The usual spiel from Dish, this move is to save the customers money, from ever increasing rate from seflish and greedy Cable netwroks, lining their own pockets.

"We want to keep servicing our local communities and we have repeatedly offered Dish a lengthy extension to continue negotiations—unfortunately, Dish rejected these offers," stated Tribune Media's senior vice president of corporate relations,Gary Weitman.

Tribune's other stations, are big network affilates. The Dish deal allowed- Viewers to miss Hamilton's run,at Tony glory in major CBS markets.Plus, viewers missed the NBA finals, on their ABC channels.

Weitman concedes,"We've offered the same kind of fair market rates that Dish already pays other local station groups with ABC, CBS, NBC and CW affiliates with top-rated local news, and other similarly valued cable networks,"

EXPOSE-IS THE CW GUILTY OF REVERSE SEXISM?

In a world, where there are too many TV networks devoted to women (Oxygen, OWN, WE,Numerous Lifetime channels,ABC, ABC Family which the new WB in Most ladies opinions;etc.) Why doesn't the CW just give-up on chasing this already served audience and try men in the 18-49 demo?

There is Proof that they can service this new audience well, is new hit Nikita, starring Maggie Q and Lyndsy Fonseca. The white knuckle, don't stop to breath for a second action drama, is much more geared to men watching (which is why it crossed over to them.)

Also, long time hit Smallville (which is finishing its run this year and without a suitable spin-off) and Supernatural- are the only other shows on the network- the have a Cross over appeal to both sexes. For the last two years, the Friday night shows have lifted, the CW as high as- thrid place in the ratings.

There is also newcomer Hellcats (exec. produced by Smallville's own Tom Welling) that so much scattered T&A going with its Cheerleaders ,that most guys will forgive the overly dramatic chats of feminist over-communication with nothing or Little resolved.

Next, aging chick-hits Top Model,90210 and Gossip Girl have long since lost their water-cooler cache and appear to soon by on there way off air.Not to mention, the network fear to try weekend programming, like a real TV network.

Finally, long time lady president Lucy Sahany is leaving without a lot to show for this station and other women execs are being considered ,which more of the same from the channel that barely tries to have any impact on its viewers, any of them.

CANDICE OF HEROES LEAVES SHOW TO HELP REAPER ON CW NET.

Missy Peregrym's alter ego-who was killed at the end of a brutal fistfight with "Jessica"(Ali Larter) by taking an ultra punch to the bridge of her nose (crushing her brain instantly) will be rewarded- with a new life on the dark upstart rip-off of Ghost Rider (hopefully without the cheesiness this time.)

She replaced thespian Nikki Reed from the pilot and will portray the love stuck sidekick of "Satan's bounty hunter" (Bret Harrison.) Twin Peaks alum Ray Wise is the prince of darkness for this show.

Later.
