Inside sources claim, the producers are having quiet discussions with the stars about the big-time move. This would lead to an "official" forming of the Justice League/Super Friends on the show. Fans would finally see: Clark (Tom Welling) eventual flying, getting/wearing his Super-suit, and officially accepting his Kryptonian heritage and leaving behind the last of his flawed humanity. Then, see Welling satirizing that behavior to his own amusements- in hip geek version of Kent, Reeves-style.

The producers feel it would be a perfect time, since Elizabeth is damaged goods at the moment and is desperate for work. Kilmer has finally reached a point in his career, when he is affordable and willing to work in TV (voicing the new KITT in a failed Knight Rider reboot and a failed TV movie that aired on NBC, that should remain nameless.)

Also, with the show going into its ninth and last season, the show could use the two actors- to push the ratings up. Since, this would be Kilmer's most likely final time- playing the role and the prospect of Shannon fighting and emoting half-naked, could give her just the career boost- she needs.

Finally, if the network succeeds in this move- would give a product placement plug- to an upcoming arcade game, about the Justice League to debut in the fall.

According to Empire Online and IESB, HAVE FOUND confirmation linking obscure model Megan Gale in receiving the part of Wonder Woman, and acting newcomer Armie Hammer will be the sub-Batman (after Christian Bale,Micheal Keaton and Val Kilmer, of course. I don't count George Cloonley, as his role was the aberration that killed the franchise.)

Hammer, 6' 5", has been on shows like,Desperate Housewives and Veronica Mars. It has been said his square jaw and intimidating features "work perfectly beneath the Batman's cape and cowl."

Diaz may have bolted when she learned, she had to share screen time with other heroes--instead of starring in her own WW movie. This opened the door for Biel, who also has a great body and is already trained in stunt and marital art work.

The Ex 7th Heaven beauty, may have been doing some stealth auditing too. In the successful, but critically maligned I Now Pronounce You- Chuck and Larry she was dressed in a cat woman (Michelle Pfeiffer era)outfit and the infamous scene where she's walking around in power boots and a sweaty bikini (B4 letting Adam Sandler touch her boobs.)

Warner Bros. refused to confirmed this, until all casting options were exhausted. This included all the male hero roles, as current stars of the Batman Begins and Superman Returns tent-pole films (Chrtistian Bale & Brandon Routh respectively) will not reprise their roles here.

Diaz didn't turn herself into a exotic brunette for nothing. She may have been secretly offered the role and was screen testing her temporarily, "wonder"ful look for the role. No comment from Warner Bros films or Diaz's people on whether this was true.

Also, weird rumors came out a few weeks ago- that Jessica Biel was going to play Asian based character Chun Li, for the upcoming Street Fighter reboot.

This is following the disastrous '90s Jean Claude Van Damme edition. Those reports have turned out to be false, as Kelly Hu and The Big Hit's China Chow have emerged as the front runners there. But, this talk--put Biel back into the short list of potential amazon contenders.

Last week's buying of the spec script by Matthew Jennison and Brent Strickland, was now purchased for being a new and "complete" idea. The intial reason, that the buy was an a pre-emptive strike to stave off law suit- was just mostly a smoke screen.

Inside sources at Warner Bros told Whedon to use the script and alter any ideas that he saw fit. Still, the creator of Angel was apparently, too heartbroken to rewrite or direct- the long gestating project.

Also, the studio battled with Whedon over casting- as Whedon wanted a newcomer to grow into the role (As Lynda Carter did for the TV series or as Brandon Routh is pathetically doing now in awful and badly rushed Superman Returns.) The Bros. wanted either a star or a character actress of some note.

Whedon's dismissal may have also been because Warner feared, he was taking the script into a "Ang Lee direction" as movie-goers remember, the famous Hulk mega bomb of a few years ago (too MUCH angst and backstory with few & too long action sequences.)

Still, if the spec script is the new blueprint, Super producer Joel Silver has long stated, he wants a modern wonder woman...story and no plans to take the character back to her genesis days, back in WWII.

Some feminist directors and writers may see this as a break. A chance to Oprahized the role- in their own actual image. In fact, a lady director could make the film hotter for men, without exploiting Diana Price's image (too much) for the women.
