PROUD MARY ROLLING ON THE RIVER,FOR THE KIDS!
Principal photography started this week on Screen Gems' action thriller, Proud Mary, starring Taraji P. Henson with Billy Brown, Jahi Di'Allo Winston, Neal McDonough, Margaret Avery, Xander Berkeley and Danny Glover. Babak Najafi directs from a script by John Stuart Newman and Christian Swegal. Paul Schiff and Tai Duncan are producing. Taraji P. Henson and Glenn S. Gainor are executive producers and Andrea Ajemian is co-producer. Casting is by Nancy Nayor.
Taraji P. Henson is Mary, a hit woman working for an organized crime family in Boston, whose life is completely turned around when she meets a young boy whose path she crosses when a professional hit goes bad.
Henson, acclaimed for such diverse roles as Katherine Johnson in the Oscar®-nominated Hidden Figures, Cookie Lyon on Fox TV's "Empire" (Golden Globe-winning and Emmy®-nominated performance) and Queenie in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (Oscar®-nominated performance), adds an indelible portrayal as the fierce and beautiful Mary.
Jahi Di'Allo Winston (Feed The Beast) is Danny, a streetwise kid unaware of what prompts Mary to come to his aid; Danny Glover (Lethal Weapon) plays Benny, Mary's fatherly but brutally unforgiving boss; Billy Brown (How To Get Away With Murder) is Tom, Benny's son, a fellow professional who was once romantically involved with Mary; Neal McDonough (Captain America: The First Avenger) is a well-manicured killer primed to be sacrificed to maintain peace; Margaret Avery (The Color Purple) is Benny's wise, refined wife; and Xander Berkeley (The Mentalist) is the drug-dealing sadist Mary eradicates, provoking an all-out turf war.
Director Babak Najafi most recently helmed the internationally successful action thriller London Has Fallen.
The writers are John Stuart Newman (Dirty Work) and Christian Swegal (Stasis), the director of photography is Dan Laustsen (John Wick: Chapter 2), the production designer is Carl Sprague (Infinitely Polar Bear), the editor is Evan Schiff (Southside With You) and the costume designer is Deborah Newhall (Cadaver).
Proud Mary films in Boston and surrounding Massachusetts cities through May, and will be released in theaters nationwide by Screen Gems in January 2018.

TOM SIZEMORE IS BACK AS AN AA MENTOR....IN NEW MOVIE.
HOLLYWOOD, Ca- Across the vast landscape of roles, Tom Sizemore has taken on (Saving Private Ryan, Natural Born Killers), his newest is perhaps all the more interesting, and one that audiences will recognize as hitting close to home. In the upcoming Psychological Mystery-thriller PRIVATE NUMBER, Sizemore plays Jeff, an Alcoholics Anonymous sponsor to novelist and recovering drinker Michael Lane (Hal Ozsan, 90210), whose sobriety, not surprisingly, seems only dubiously in-check. The film also stars Judd Nelson (The Breakfast Club, St. Elmo's Fire) as Sheriff G. Stance, and Nicholle Tom (Masters of Sex, The Nanny) as Michael's passionate, troubled wife, Katherine.
PRIVATE NUMBER winds itself around a series of frightening, cryptic phone messages and gruesome visions haunting writer Michael Lane, who is struggling to finish his second novel. As the phone calls intensify, Michael loses his hold on reality, obsessing over an unsolved mystery that leads to horrific revelations neither he, nor his devoted wife, can escape.
PRIVATE NUMBER is written and directed by LazRael Lison, and produced by Tatiana Chekhova and Travis Huff, for Summer House Pictures.
Casting Sizemore as an AA sponsor was a dream come true because of the actor's own well-documented struggles with substance abuse, which sidelined his career and filled the pages of his 2013 memoir, By Some Miracle I Made it Out of Here. His sobriety the past few years and resurgence in film and TV (The Red Road) added a layer of honesty and authentic inspiration to his character Jeff in PRIVATE NUMBER, says director Lison. As the film digs deeper into dark, disturbing corners, Sizemore's scenes are sobering for their rich, spare effect.
PRIVATE NUMBER is 100% complete and Rights Worldwide are currently available. The Premiere Screening will be held on Thursday, July 17th at Laemmle's Music Hall Beverly Hills.

JACKIE CHAN SNEAK PEEKS HIS REALITY MOVIE.
Jackie Chan's Stunt-Filled Family Action Adventure CHINESE ZODIAC Opens October 18 At AMC Theatres®
Jackie Chan broke two Guinness World Records® for "Most Stunts Performed by a Living Actor" and "Most Credits in One Movie" From PR Newswire Jackie Chan's stunt-filled family action adventure CHINESE ZODIAC comes to guests at AMC Theatres in the United States and Canada beginning October 18.
Filmed on location across five continents and seven countries, the movie features some of Chan's wildest and most breathtaking stunts ever – including a hillside chase with our hero in a skate suit and an aerial landing on top of an active volcano.
During the making of the film, Chan broke two Guinness World Records for "Most Stunts Performed by a Living Actor" and "Most Credits in One Movie" (15), which includes Actor, Director, Producer, Fight Choreographer and Composer. One of the highest-grossing Chinese films of all time, CHINESE ZODIAC has earned over $160 million worldwide.
JC (Jackie Chan) leads a team of treasure hunters (Kwon Sang-Woo, Liao Fan and Zhang Lanxin) who travel the world in search of ancient relics. When JC is given his toughest challenge yet, acquiring 12 mystical artifacts that comprise the animals of the Chinese Zodiac, he enlists the help of archeologist Coco (Yao Xintong) and French heiress Katherine (Laure Weissbecker).
Together, JC and his group must locate the priceless relics before they fall into the wrong hands and are lost forever. Loaded with Jackie Chan's trademark brand of action and humor, Chinese Zodiac features the martial arts comedy icon performing his own death -- and gravity -- defying stunts.
Shot on location in China, France, Australia, Latvia, Hong Kong, Taiwan and the South Pacific, the film features an international cast that includes leading actors and actresses from China, France, Korea and the United States. The film is also one of Chan's most ambitious -- one of the major fight scenes in the movie cost more than $10 million.

YOU TUBE CENSORS WATERBOARDING MOMENT - IN NEW MOVIE: THE LAST WAR CRIME.
From PR Newswire
LOS ANGELES,-- Though still not even in official release, the writer and director of "The Last War Crime" says that YouTube is already trying to suppress the movie, which is a new full-length feature film about indicting Dick Cheney for torture. The movie's writer and director, who goes by the name of The Pen, asks, "And isn't that something billions of people want to see?" But, says The Pen, YouTube does not want their visitors to see the preview clip of the waterboarding scene from the movie, for the purported reason that it contains nudity, or is otherwise sexually provocative. And a protest is mobilizing against this accusation.
"That's ridiculous," exclaims Pen. "There is no actual nudity in it ... none. The actor playing the detainee wore a swimmer's style bathing suit the entire time, and we positioned the female interrogator character so view of his midriff was blocked entirely in any case. And if they're complaining this scene is sexually suggestive, they need to ban half the rest of the movies on their site."
The purpose of the scene in the movie is to condemn waterboarding, long recognized to be a form of torture unequivocally. According to The Pen, the scene also serves to remind everyone that the sexual taunting of helpless and mostly innocent captives, in places like Abu Ghraib, was a deliberate part of a de facto program to degrade people in violation of the Geneva Conventions. But YouTube makes no provision on their site to challenge their own unilateral dictates.
Says Pen, "Shame on YouTube for censoring this clip, which we believe, and we think you will agree, is part of an important cultural and artistic statement of social commentary. We have already submitted the movie to the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, the Cinequest Film Festival, the Ann Arbor Film Festival, SXSW, the Cleveland International Film Festival, the Tribeca Film Festival, and the San Francisco International Film Festival, seven of the top breakout venues for serious works of new film art."
Pen continues, "And shame on YouTube further for deleting our waterboarding scene in such a summary and authoritarian manner. We had to build our own video server to do it, but people can now again see the clip for themselves on our new website."
http://www.lastwarcrime.com
On the same web page is an action form configured to automatically send protests to YouTube. And Pen is asking everyone to submit this form to send their own personal messages of complaint. Pen is demanding that YouTube immediately restore the wrongfully deleted waterboarding scene from "The Last War Crime" movie, and put in place an accessible review process so nothing like this can ever happen again. Hoping thousands of people will join with him, Pen suggests, "Maybe that will start to get YouTube's attention."

AMC THEATRE'S STUBS PROGRAM "A SUCCESS."
From PR Newswire
LIONSGATE® (NYSE: LGF), a leading global entertainment company, and AMC Theatres (AMC), a leading theatrical exhibition and entertainment company, are thrilled to jointly announce the unprecedented success of the AMC Stubs rewards program screenings of the inspirational sports drama WARRIOR. The screenings, which took place at 90 AMC theatres in 47 markets nationwide Wednesday, Aug. 31, marked the first time AMC has offered a free advance screening to members of its AMC Stubs rewards program. Tickets were claimed quickly after they became available to AMC Stubs members on Aug. 12, and over 17,000 people attended the screenings, which were filled to capacity in the majority of their locations.
AMC's Facebook page has exploded with positive feedback from fans about their experience. Comments offered raves for the film, with one attendee describing WARRIOR as a "Great flick! Crowd was cheering, laughing and crying; often all at the same time" and another adding, "Intense moments! Everyone in their seats cheering! Made me feel like I was there ring side and not at the movies! GREAT film!" The film also surprised many attendees with its broader than expected appeal. One AMC Stubs member explained "I usually don't like sports films but this one truly was special. A must see. Thank you," while another emphasized how much his girlfriend loved the film. Along with their gratitude to AMC for offering the free members screenings, many fans underscored that they wouldn't have otherwise seen the film, and that they plan to attend again on opening weekend and will recommend the film enthusiastically.
Said Lionsgate's EVP of Exhibitor Relations and Operations, Mike Polydoros of the partnership, "We've known for some time that the best tool we have to sell the movie Warrior is the movie Warrior, but these particular sneak preview screenings have so many added benefits for all involved beyond the positive word of mouth that we know the film will generate: we love working with our partners in exhibition to add value for their customers in creative ways and drive people to their theaters, and this was a great example of that. And we got a great marketing boost from this collaboration as well; the invitation was extended to more than 1.5 million AMC Stubs members, which helps raise additional awareness for the film."
"Lionsgate shared this special film with us a while ago, and we agreed the story was one worthy of providing to our AMC Stubs members as an incremental benefit," said Sun Dee Larson, Vice President, Film Marketing and Communications at AMC. "Our members were overwhelmingly receptive to the offer and thanked us personally at the screenings for adding this benefit to the already rich rewards we offer. We also received positive feedback on our Facebook page and Twitter feeds."
