Scream" protagonist Sidney Prescott's life is going to get thrilling
again in 2010.


Dimension Films' Bob Weinstein announced that Neve Campbell, Courteney
Cox and David Arquette are all back on board to reprise their roles
for a the next installment of the "Scream" franchise, beginning
production in Spring 2010, reports Variety.


Wes Craven is being courted to direct the sequel, which was written by
Kevin Williamson, who's currently behind The CW's "The Vampire
Diaries."


In a previous interview with Zap2it's Korbi Ghosh, Williamson had
revealed that Cox and Arquette were already back, but Campell's return
was still uncertain.


Weinstein also announced that the company will have a new emphasis on
3D, with Robert Rodriguez's soon-to-be-written "Spy Kids 4" being
realized in 3D. In addition, Dimension is looking to remake
"Short Circuit" and "An American Werewolf in London."

U.S. comedian Jay Leno says NBC executives originally planned for him to serve as host of The Tonight Show for a shorter time.

Leno, who will premiere his new prime time TV series on NBC next week,
said he was informed by NBC officials- five years ago- that they wanted to
replace him with comedian Conan O'Brien within three years, The New York Times
reported Saturday.

"Actually, they wanted me out in three years," said Leno, who departed
the Tonight Show in May. "I had to argue to get the other two. Oh, yeah.
I said: 'Let's make it five. You want me out? I'll do five.'"


Leno's recollection of those past events has been questioned by Rick
Ludwin, NBC's executive in charge of late-night programs.


"That is definitely not my recollection," Ludwin said. "I don't
remember three years being mentioned."


Now both sides are betting on the success of The Jay Leno Show with
NBC heavily promoting the new prime time series due to premiere Tonight.


"It's just so embarrassing," Leno told the Times of his response to
the wealth of "Leno" promotions. "It's a genetic fault that makes you go into
show business. It's not a plus."

person in her chair, they will feel compelled to make her an offer she

PressFocus groups are going to help the folks at Fox determine
just how much money they need to offer Paula Abdul to bring her back
to American Idol, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively.


The TV executives want to know how audiences respond to any new judge
other than Paula. “They know no one can replace Paula,” a source
said. The testing will help them see just how damaging it might be
not to have Abdul back and figure out just what their new financial
offer should be.


Paula will not be seen in any of the early audition shows; that much
is certain. The fourth judge for those outings will be the likes of
Victoria Beckham, Mary J. Blige and Shania Twain. Although none of
these guest judges is being considered as Paula’s replacement, video
of them on the job will be used for comparison purposes with the focus
groups.


Those who know Paula the best believe she wants to make it happen
too. One of her closest associates told RadarOnline.com that Paula
was “bored” after eight seasons as well as feeling under-appreciated
by the show’s producers and executives at Fox.


Paula has always believed that she was the most important personality
in the cast with more fan appeal than Simon Cowell or Ryan Seacrest.
She could not believe they were handed such huge deals and she was
not.


She also often told friends that she did not believe American Idol
could survive without her, another insider told RadarOnline.com.


“It’s not that she doesn’t have other things going on, she does,” the
friend said. “But it is so much easier to go back to Idol and use that
as a platform to promote all her other ventures. Everyone who knows
her believes she will be back.” All parties are back in talks – if
not exactly formal negotiations -- about exactly how to make what
seems to be the inevitable happen.


The show’s producers had wanted four judges from the very beginning of

Paula Abdul says she's optimistic about remaining as an American Idol judge and says the show has invited her back for a ninth season and beyond — subject to the negotiation of a new contract.

Abdul told The Associated Press in an interview on Monday in Atlanta that she's been invited to stay for the duration of the show. She was backstage at the new television show Drop Dead Diva, which premieres on July 12.

Abdul's contract, which expired after the eighth season, has not been renewed. There has been speculation that Abdul would be replaced by Kara DioGuardi, who was recently added as a judge.

The 47-year-old singer-dancer says she hopes a deal can be arranged so she can return to the hit show.

We've just learned Michael Jackson has died. He was 50.


Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon at his Holmby
Hills home and paramedics were unable to revive him. We're told when
paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse
back.


A source tells us Jackson was dead when paramedics arrived. A
cardiologist at UCLA tells TMZ Jackson died of cardiac arrest.


Once at the hospital, the staff tried to resuscitate him but he was
completely unresponsive.


We're told one of the staff members at Jackson's home called 911.


La Toya ran in the hospital sobbing after Jackson was pronounced dead.

BRYAN FULLER QUITS HEROES!

Just as Heroes was gaining some creative momentum comes word of
another setback: Bryan Fuller has vacated his post as consulting
producer.


The acclaimed Pushing Daisies auteur tells me that he left to focus on
developing new projects for NBC, and not (as some have speculated) due
to creative differences with series creator Tim Kring.


"I'm crafting two pilots right now and it's a lot of work," admits
Fuller, who has an overall deal with NBC. "It was just too hard to
[juggle] Heroes and my development; something had to give."


Fuller's exit was first reported by Herc at Ain't It Cool News.


Fuller returned to Heroes last December, shortly after ABC dropped the
ax on Daisies. Many (yours truly included) credited him with the
show's end-of-season creative rebirth.

breakout reality TV star with MTV's "Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica,"
Jessica Simpson is returning to MTV Networks for a VH1 series targeted
for a 2010 launch.


"The Price of Beauty" will feature Simpson traveling the world to meet
regular women as well as some local pop culture icons. Simpson will
study local fashions, dietary fads and beauty regimes and even
participate in some of the extreme practices she discovers.


"I have always believed that beauty comes from within and confidence
will always make a woman beautiful, but I know how much pressure some
women put on themselves to look perfect," said Simpson, who has gotten
a lot of attention for her new full figure which she has fully
embraced.


Shooting is set to begin in mid-July.

are moving in together.


Fringe star Joshua Jackson says that he and girlfriend Diane Kruger,
for whom he has the pet name "Mrs.," are planning to settle down as
his hit FOX series relocates to Vancouver from Toronto. Jackson tells
Entertainment Tonight Canada that he needs to find a place to stay,
and he and Kruger have "already made the commitment to do this
together."


For now the two keep track of each other from far apart cities by
phone, text messaging and video chats, which Jackson, 30, prefers
since, "you're there and you can see the face and you can see the
sarcasm."


Meanwhile, Kruger, 32, who is appearing in Inglourious Basterds with
